Settlers of Catan

I made my own copy of the Settlers of Catan board game for Jake's christmas present.

The board was made from 3mm MDF. The border was sculpted from standard Milliput epoxy putty and coated with sand. It was then painted and coated in 'Water effects' resin.

The finished product:

The box was made of reclaimed shelf draws and the lid from 3mm MDF. The lid was edged with aluminium stair nosing. The lettering on the box was hand-painted.

The boards sits inside the box and is removable:

Underneath the board, there is space for the game components:

The terrain hexes:

The hexes are 3mm MDF and detachable from the game board in order to be able to randomise the layout of the board. The detail on each hex was hand sculped from standard Miliput. The dry Miliput was then painted and terrain texture was applied in the form of Citadel flock of various colours.
